Introduction to jetadore.

Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been interested in the unusual, things that can’t be explained and are “out of this world” as others would probably say. I’ve always wanted to know more about myths, legends and folktales.

I’m that sort of person that wants to know and learn everything but never finds time to do so,  or let’s be honest… to lazy to do research. So the questions and curiosity piles up and keeps growing until I go pretty much insane of not knowing. lol, maybe I exaggerated just a tiny bit to much. However, I do want to increase my knowledge on these topics and I want to share my studies with you. It’s even possible to comment on my findings and you can share your knowledge with me, if you want too =)

Before I start blogging about all the existing legends, myths and folktales, I guess it would be good for you to know what they exactly are. Therefore these three words will be defined in the following paragraphs according to the online dictionairy.

Legends

  1. A non historical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical.
  2. the body of stories of this kind, especially as they relate to particular people, group or clan.
  3. an inscription, especially on a coat of arms, on a monument, under a picture, or the like.

Myths

  1. a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, especially one that is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon of nature.
  2. stories or matter of this kind.
  3. any invented story, idea, or concept.
  4. an imaginary or fictitious thing or person
  5. an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify asocial institution.

Folktales

  1. a tale or legend originating and traditional among people or folk, especially one forming part of the oral tradition of the common people.
  2. any belief or story passed on traditionally, especially one considered to be false or based on superstition.

But I am also really interested in learning new things. I like to know why people act the way they do and why things are the way they are.

habits, norms, rituals and cultural story telling are also points that I want to do research on and share with you guys.

Hope you will enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it.
